Records debits and credits accrued by Elkins for such activities as laying bricks, building chimneys, repairing chimneys, plastering, whitewashing, painting, plowing, and framing a wood house. To perform his work, Elkins often bought such items as brick, mortar, lime, iron, sand, and shingles, for which he charged the client. When noting days of labor for which he was owed, Elkins often included the name of an assistant. In the later years, Elkins installed stoves for people in addition to his other tasks.
